Behind Jamie Garcia, the Cardinals snapped their 3 game losing streak on Friday night, beating Washington 4-2. Coupled with the Giants getting shut out and the Phillies’ extra-inning win, St Louis currently sits in third place in the Wild Card standings, a game behind Philadelphia and a half-game behind San Francisco.
Getting a little off-topic, back in April I was given an opportunity to preview a new baseball game called Out of the Park Baseball. I was able to set aside some time to play with it, and liked the simulation the game offered; but for a variety of reasons that are entirely my fault, I never finalized the post so you, gentle reader, never read it.
Late last night, an email appeared in my inbox from the OOTP team announcing a half-off sale of the software for this weekend only. You can pick up a copy of the game for only $19.99. Here’s a copy from the email:
The link doesn’t work in the photo, but here it is for your convenience.
Like I said, it allows for some pretty good game simulation. You can play out a complete season in about 20 minutes, or you can manage a team on a day-to-day basis. There are several other articles out there discussing the product – here’s two, one by our friends at Pitcher’s Hit Eighth, and another from Operation Sports – that will go into a bit more detail and I have, for your reading amusement.
I would like (belatedly) to thank the folks at OOTP for allowing me a chance to test out the software.
