As you probably remember, I’m a committee member for the San Diego SABR chapter. Typically the Ted Williams chapter has put on two regional meetings a year – one in January, one in July. This year we’ve decided to try something different, namely, some smaller ‘mini-regional’ meetings that will occur more often.
To that end, the San Diego SABR chapter would like to announce two mini-regionals:
1. On 5 June at 10am, featuring author and baseball historian Andy Strasburg. Andy is the Chapter Vice President, but he is two other things as well: the creator of Fantography, currently on display at the SD Public Library Main Branch, and Roger Maris’ biggest fan.
2. On 19 June at 9:30 am, and featuring current umpire Joe Cuzzi, 12-year MLB veteran. Here’s a unique opportunity to talk to one of the game’s arbiters that may never pass your way again. You can ask him about Jim Joyce if you want.
Both events will be held at the La Jolla/Riford Library, 7555 Draper Avenue, La Jolla, CA, 92037. Admission and parking are free.
If you find yourself in San Diego I hope you can make time to attend either or both of these meetings. Tell ’em at the door Stan Musial’s Stance sent ya!
